Day 33 of my 365. Sherwin
An instagram friend was organizing a hike up Ha Ling starting at 3:00pm with the aim of being on the summit for sunset at 5:30ish. Of course this ment we’d have to descend in the dark which turned out to be lots of fun. My original plan for today’s portrait was to photograph my Mom as it’s her birthday but it didn’t work out. So I needed another subject.
I met Sherwin for the first time today and on the summit I approached him and briefly mentioned my project and asked if I could take a portrait of him. He agreed. At first I just made a photo without the flash thinking it’d be ok, but it was starting to get dark out and I didn’t like how flat the light was. I did bring a flash so I asked him to bear with me for a few seconds while I got it out. I made three shots with the flash held out at arm's length to my left. The first one I mucked the settings and the flash overexposed the frame. The second he blinked. The third is this. I was grateful that he let me take the photo because it was quite cold with the wind and everyone else already started making their way down the mountain. Thanks for looking.
